Football Eats….#2 Pizza

You’ll be sinking your teeth into mouthfuls of deliciousness before Mario the Pizzaiolo has written down your order.

Home made Pizza is a great choice for the football menu when hosting a game at home. It’s fun, tasty and if your football team doesn’t perform so well, we will guarantee that this pizza recipe will!

Now…..We have eaten our fair share of pizza’s…..and we can honestly say that the ones prepared in the Hare household are just as good as those made by the Tortoises, provided you follow a few simple rules.

Firstly, the pizza base should contain flour, yeast, water…and that’s about it. We like to use Mr Pitta. You can pick it up from your local deli for around $3.50 (5 loaves).  Secondly, you need a good quality passata, and olive oil. Fresh basil is also a yummy add to any simple caprese pizza (tomato, mozzarella, fresh basil).

You will need:

1 packet Mr Pitta (5 loaves)

300g mozzarella, sliced

1 cup Passata

Salt

Olive Oil

Oregano (don’t skip the oregano, it’s essential)

Selection of toppings, such as olives, ham, prosciutto, grilled capsicum, fresh rocket etc.

How to prepare:

Place the pitta loaf (soon to be pizza base) on an oven tray. Spread a few tablespoons of passata around the edge of the pizza base (avoid the center as it makes the pizza go soggy). Sprinkle with salt and oregano. Scatter cheese on top, then an assortment of  your favorite fillings. Drizzle generously with olive oil.

Bake at 220’C for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and golden.
