Online Shopping @ my local

Ok…ok…call me old fashioned..

The concept of shopping for groceries online is still foreign to me. Perhaps it’s because I like to peruse the mountains of apples at my local fruit shop before choosing which ones I’m going to sink my teeth into on any given week. Or perhaps it’s because I like to plan our meals for the week as I view the wonderful variety of foods which ebb and flow with the seasons.

Nonetheless, I’ve decided to take the plunge and give online grocery shopping a go. Flicking through the local barrage of catalogues which arrived in the letter box this week, I stumbled across a new mob (Yourgrocer) who seem to have actualised a concept which many of us have been longing for some time. Essentially, you place an online order with your local butcher, baker and candlestick maker. Your order(s) are then picked up by a local driver (from each of your favourite shops) and delivered to your door.
Essentially, they’ve done away with queuing at the deli, and saved me many frustrating hours looking for a car space.  All I can say is… I wish they had been around when my children were newborns. Aside from the convenience of it all there is the added bonus of supporting local traders and small business. Sounds like a win-win situation.

If you are one of those people, who already do their shopping with Yourgrocer, please drop us a line, and let us know how the other half live. Alternatively, if you use a similar type of service which you think is worth mentioning, please share your story with us.
