This Hot Chocolate recipe is useful for those times when you have exceeded your allowance of daily coffee, but need a little pick-me-up to get you through the rest of the day.
Unlike regular Hot Chocolate which is sweetened with cane sugar, the maple syrup used in this recipe has a lower glycemic index, so you will get a steady release of energy, enough to keep the engine running for a few hours. Also, maple syrup contains a few minerals and antioxidants which means that you don’t need to feel overly guilty about eating it.
Combine a heaped teaspoon of dutch cocoa with about a teaspoon of maple syrup (depending on how sweet your tooth is). Add a little hot water (about 1-2 tablespoons), then fill your cup with warm milk. Enjoy!
